Cheetah

Cheetahs are amazing animals. They are covered in yellowish brown fur with black spots. They have long black lines on their face that go from their eyes to their mouth. The cheetah has a round head and round ears with high set eyes. Cheetahs' bodies can be as short as 45 inches to as long as 54 inches, without the tail which is 26 to 34 inches long. An adult cheetah can weigh from 55 to 143 pounds. They are also one of the fastest land animals on earth, reaching speeds up to 75 mph in short bursts covering up to 460m. A cheetah can accelerate from 0 to 64 mph in 3 seconds. The Acinonyx jubatus, the cheetah's scientific name, is the only living animal of the genus Acinonyx. The word cheetah comes from the sanskrit word citrakāyaḥ, which means variegated body.
